Quick overview

This workflow runs every Monday and uses Apify’s Google Trends API to fetch interest and related rising searches for a keyword list, then appends one summarized row per keyword to a Google Sheets spreadsheet for weekly tracking.

How it works

  1. Runs every Monday at 08:00 on a schedule.
  2. Defines the keyword list, location, and time range used for the Google Trends query.
  3. Calls the Apify Google Trends API to retrieve trend metrics and related rising searches for each keyword.
  4. Reshapes the response into one row per keyword, including average and latest interest, peak date, a rising/falling flag, and the top rising searches.
  5. Appends the resulting rows to a Google Sheets worksheet to build a weekly trend log.

Setup

  1. Create an Apify account, generate an API token, and add it to an HTTP Bearer Auth credential used by the Apify request.
  2. Connect your Google account in the Google Sheets node and select the target spreadsheet (document ID) and worksheet (sheet name).
  3. Update the keywords, location, and timeRange values in the Settings step to match what you want to track.

Requirements

  • Apify account (free to create). Pay per use: $0.025 per comparison of up to 5 keywords + $0.03 per keyword for rising searches, about $0.15 per run for 4 keywords.

Customization

  • Change the schedule to daily or monthly, use past_7_days for fast-moving news topics or past_5_years for seasonality, or add a Slack or Gmail node after the Code node to get alerted when a keyword is rising.
